Scottish Writers' Centre

For Writers By Writers The Scottish Writers’ Centre (SWC) is a national resource supporting writers and promoting Scotland’s vibrant literary arts culture. SWC seeks to explore the artistic and social power of writing by establishing and engaging in collaborative projects with Scotland’s writers and our partners. Operated solely by volunteers, the SWC provides a national resource for enriching the development of the literary arts in Scotland by presenting writing as a resource for everyone. Through our annual Literary Programme, we offer a range of literary events, educational and development activities, and an online resource ‘for writers by writers,’ accessible to the public. The Scottish Writers' Centre is a focal point for Scottish writers and writing, the first dedicated literature venue of its kind in Scotland. Our aim is to provide a social arena where writers can meet, share ideas and experiences and offers a facility providing basic services for writers. The centre aims to support and promote the work of Scottish writers and provide an international showcase space for Scottish literature. We offer a regular programme of live events and workshops, along with activities such as schools programmes, community publishing workshops, literary consultancy and an annual writing competition. The Scottish Writers Centre is a registered charity. Our Charity Number is SC 040823. The Scottish Writers' Centre aims to be the first dedicated literature venue of its kind in Scotland. We're by writers, for writers. Our reputation for providing quality events that inspire and create a hunger for literature as well as opportunities for professional development has continued with “In Process” masterclasses with renowned Scottish writers at the top of their field, be it Novel, Play, or Poetry writing, with future focus to include Screen and Comic Book writing covering the transformation process of adaption. We regularly have open-forum discussions and debates with excellent guest speakers. Please come and share your opinions and ideas. Please check this website regularly for updates and details of membership benefits and subscribe to our blog. Join our Facebook group and Twitter feeds for the very latest on events, submissions and information of interest to all writers.
