CCA Cinema Room, Glasgow:
‘Poetry and Film’ event with Alastair Cook
Award-winning artist Alastair Cook presents an evening exploring the relationship between poetry/prose and film, in the emerging genre of poetry-film.
Alastair works with lens-based media, focusing on large format film and antique photographic practice; he also works as a filmmaker using 8mm and 16mm film, combining these with digital technology. His work is mercurial, rooted in the connections between people, land, and sea. Alastair is currently artist in residence for Absent Voices.
“Alastair Cook’s short films are beautiful.” Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman
“Arresting and nostalgic, contemplative and intriguing…Cook’s portraits create their own atmosphere and intrigue.” Giles Sutherland, The Times (4 stars)
Tickets: £6 (£3 for concessions). Free to SWC members.
