An Evening with William Letford – Rising Star of Scottish Poetry
“William Letford is a rising star of Scottish poetry. Even before the publication of his debut collection, he was acclaimed as a fresh and important voice, not least because of the reputation he earned through memorable performances on the live circuit. A roofer by trade, Letford has, unsurprisingly, a unique perspective. His humour is unpretentious, his eye for detail and use of language informed by his surroundings…”
– The Scotsman, 8th September 2012.
William Letford has worked as a roofer, on and off, since he was fifteen years old. He has received a New Writer’s Award from the Scottish Book Trust and an Edwin Morgan Travel Bursary (which allowed him to spend three months in the mountains of northern Italy, helping to restore a medieval village). He has an MLitt in Creative Writing from the University of Glasgow.
William’s first collection, Bevel, was published by Carcanet Press in 2012. He lives in Stirling.
