CCA Clubroom, Glasgow:
‘Diverse Communities’ Evening of Poetry and Fiction, with Chiew-Siah Tei
The SWC is proud to present a ‘Diverse Communities’ open reading event, hosted by Chiew-Siah Tei.
This will be an evening of poetry recitals and short story readings from members of Scotland’s diverse ethnic communities. Reading one’s own work is a vital experience, as a means to gain feedback and cultivate a distinct voice. Listening to the stories from those of different backgrounds is a foundation stone for a dynamic society of enlightened individuals.
Confirmed speakers are: Martin Stepek, Leela Soma, Raymond Soltysek, Magdalen Chua, Juana Adcock, Ryotaro Hoshino, Ogba Uweru, and Sheila Puri.
Chiew-Siah Tei holds a PhD in Creative Writing and Film Studies from the University of Glasgow. Her work encompasses fiction and drama. Tei’s debut novel, Little Hut of Leaping Fishes (Picador, 2008), was listed for the Man Asian Literary Prize and Best Scottish Fiction Prize; the title won Malaysia’s Readers’ Choice Award.
